For a change I was up early this morning and lucky I was as there was no bread left. So on rummaging around in the cupboards I found enough to be able to make some bread. This is something I haven’t done for a long time and missed the smells of it coming out of the oven. It’s a bit hap hazard as I only had some White flour and a tiny bit of Brown and not my normal 50/50 mix but it came out ok although a bit misshapen. Anyway get to have a proper breakfast with some coffee as think White bread always goes better with coffee and Marmalade.
An easy way of getting out of going to the shops and hey, it’s cheaper. I really should make it more.
Came across the $100 dollar startup via a Meetup email for a group here that were looking at the £100 startup. Very interesting ebook and lots to take away from it.
Now if I could just get started..
Things have been rather busy round here with comings and goings but now as we head into autumn things are quietening down and a more normal pace of life returns. In a rather bizarre way I have been out less in the last couple of months and looking back at my runkeeper I can see progress is much better in the cooler winter months than the height of summer where with the long hot days you would think that it would be easier and far more pleasant. Apparently not for me. It is at this time of the year that I turn to thinking about trudging around in layers of clothing and soggy feet. But this year I am going to do something about this state of affairs and invest in some sturdy boots. In the past I have always got cheaper types that have lasted me a reasonable but no where near long enough time. Yes I know that you get what you pay for but I never really saw the point as I was more of a weekend warrior or should that be plodder.
We have two walking shops near us and I am going to investigate them and see what’s on offer. Of course I should have done this at the beginning of summer probably but I do believe in supporting local business as its all to easy to Amazon it and I suppose that maybe in a generation we’ll be shopping that way but I guess I am kinda old school and want to support the local community.
So today also marks the return to the swimming pool after the “kiddies” have returned to school and I am guessing everything is going to ache tomorrow, we’ll see..
Came across this interesting blog and article and much of the post chimes with my thinking. I am now just reading through the backlog of posts.
Looking at the stats page on my blog I see that it’s been nineteen days since the last post. Sometimes things do go according to plan and life just gets in the way coupled with this I’ve not been feeling to well but am coming out of it now thankfully. So what next, well, now the kids are back at school I can start swimming next week as this week house repairs are taking up most of my time and also with autumn just round the corner I have to start revising walking schedules to take into account the shortening amounts of daylight. However looking at the sunset and sunrise times until the end of the year I should be able to keep my schedule going unlike last year where as soon as the clocks changed both my motivation and mood changed to that of lethargy and apathy. This year it’s going to be a battle and against the forces of darkness but if I can keep myself buoyed I’ll get to the other side of winter.
Things have been a bit wayside and I haven’t kept up with some of the things I have wanted to do but one of the law’s of life is that there is no time like the present. Having all the time in the world is both a blessing and a curse and quite often it is all to easy to put things off, why put off today what you can put off tomorrow is one of my favourite sayings but looking at it now it seems I am taking it all to seriously. I have never been on for setting goals, one year, five year plans etc probably to my detriment but I am now more focused on moving on from the current state of play. I had an interesting conversation couple of days ago about behaviour and the past and this completely hit a note with me as I have had a tendency to look to the past to try and find answers to current problems however it’s much better to just try and identify and fix what is wrong now.
I have also been following along with themoneygame and thinking about my own game and how I can start moving mine on. At the moment being out of work makes this harder than if I was receiving an income but the flip side is that I use the time I have to start generating money that I would have never had if I was in the 9-5 routine. I has definitely got the juices flowing and opened my mind up to finding alternative ways to generating the much needed cash to progress this and my future goals. I have also come across a couple of podcasts Well Kept Wallet and the The Side Hustle Show that have given me lots of food for thought and am now going back over there archives and after a bit of a break I have started listening again to the minimalists podcast and am thinking about getting their documentary off vimeo as all of my efforts are to this end.
Anyway hopefully normal service can now be resumed and am looking forward again.
